“Know yourself is a good advice. Bet to know ourselves doesn’t mean to analyze ourselves. Sometimes we want to know ourselves as if we were machines that could be taken apart and put back together at will. At certain critical times in our lives it might be helpful to explore in some detail the events that led us to our crises, but we make a mistake when we think that we can ever completely understand ourselves and explain the full meaning of our lives to others.
Solitude, Silence and prayer are often the best way to self-knowledge. Not because they offer solutions for the complexity of our lives, but because they bring us in touch with our sacred center, where God dwells. That sacred center may not be analyzed. It is the place of adoration, thanksgiving and praise”. Henry Nouwen “Bread for the Journey”
This and more could be said about taking time away to rest and to allow our body, soul and spirit to come to rest in that ‘Sacred Center’ where God dwells in us. This is my simple invitation to a Silent Retreat which is a good place that can foster that.
If this is for you come!
Wednesday 16th of August 2023 to Sunday 20th August in Chiang Mai.
The Seven Fountains Jesuit Retreat Center will welcome us to a time of silence, solitude and reflection. We will meet together on the 16th for a time of introduction to the retreat and a time of sharing. After dinner we will start the ‘Silence’ and we will keep that for three full days. We will get back together on Sunday after breakfast for a time of sharing and closure and will have lunch together.
